Organization fulfills a central tenet of their mission: bringing joy to those who suffer from childhood cancer.
Talia’s Legacy Children’s Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to honoring the life of Talia Joy Castellano, the famous YouTuber who died from neuroblastoma and MDS/preleukemia in 2013. Founded shortly after her death by her mother Desiree and sister Mattia, Talia’s Legacy is committed to fulfilling Talia’s last wish: finding a cure for childhood cancer. While the nonprofit searches for that cure, they also spread joy to kids who are suffering from the disease.

Though childhood cancer has a devastating impact on every life it touches, just 4 percent of the billions of dollars the federal government sets aside for cancer research is earmarked specifically for pediatric cancer research.
To honor Talia’s wishes, Talia’s Legacy is laser-focused on doing everything it can to generate as much funding as possible. Unfortunately, as every nonprofit knows too well, getting funding can be difficult even in the most optimal environments. In the era of COVID-19 and the unique economic pressures that the pandemic has brought along with it, getting revenue is even harder.
Always on the lookout for new ways to generate revenue, Talia’s Legacy was talking to another childhood cancer foundation, A Glimmer of Hope, and found out that they used HundredX Causes™ to successfully create resources.
In case you’re not familiar, HundredX Causes™ is an online platform that enables nonprofits to generate funds by collecting feedback about the brands and businesses their supporters use every day. By simply sharing opinions about popular companies at their own leisure and on their own devices, nonprofit supporters can help the causes they care about the most to generate funding.
For every nonprofit, trying a new method of generating revenue is a bit of a gamble. Thanks to HundredX’s turnkey resource-generating platform, Talia’s Legacy was able to host a successful campaign without tons of heavy lifting on their end.
“HundredX made it so easy for us,” Castellano says. “They had all our marketing materials ready for us to post online and send out through email and text. Since we didn’t have to make our own, we saved a ton of time.”
In fact, the process was so smooth it seemed like a collaboration more than anything else. “Working with HundredX was a true team effort,” she continues.
Thanks to the campaign, Talia’s Legacy has raised more funds for Glam WARS, a program that teaches young girls how to apply makeup in an effort to make them feel beautiful and confident when they’re going through cancer treatment in the hospital.
“We plan to use the funds to buy Glam WARS makeup bags and more makeup to keep our program running,” Castellano explains.
This, in turn, helps Talia’s Legacy fulfill a central tenet of their mission: bringing joy to those who suffer from childhood cancer.
“Talia created Glam WARS to bring joy to young girls like her who are battling cancer,” Castellano says. “Makeup made Talia feel beautiful and confident while feeling sick and in the hospital, and she wanted other young girls to have makeup bags to get their minds off of treatments and to just have fun.”
